Tungsten carbide (hard alloy), with its core advantages of ultra-high hardness, wear resistance, impact resistance, and strong dimensional stability, perfectly meets the automotive industry's demands for "high precision, long lifespan, and high-efficiency production" of parts. It is widely used in key processing stages and core components of automotive manufacturing, summarized as follows:


In precision machining of automotive parts, tungsten carbide is a core tool material. For key components such as engine blocks, crankshafts, and camshafts, tungsten carbide end mills, drills, and boring tools can efficiently machine materials such as cast iron, alloy steel, and aluminum alloys, with cutting efficiency 3-5 times that of high-speed steel tools. It can also control the surface roughness to below Ra 0.8μm, meeting sealing and assembly precision requirements. When machining gearbox gears, drive shafts, and other toothed parts, tungsten carbide hobs and gear shapers exhibit excellent wear resistance, enabling continuous machining of tens of thousands of parts without precision degradation.


In automotive stamping processes, tungsten carbide dies are crucial for efficient production. Cold stamping of body panels (doors, hood) and chassis stamping parts (frame beams, shock absorber brackets) utilizes tungsten carbide blanking and bending dies. Tungsten carbide dies offer 10-20 times the wear resistance of traditional die steel, withstanding hundreds of thousands of stamping cycles and reducing die replacement frequency. Precision stamping of battery casings and motor cores in new energy vehicles relies on the high dimensional stability of tungsten carbide dies, ensuring part tolerances are controlled within ±0.02mm, adapting to battery and motor assembly requirements.


Tungsten carbide plays a crucial role in the manufacturing of core automotive components. Fuel injector valve cores and seats in engine fuel injection systems are made of tungsten carbide, capable of withstanding high-pressure fuel erosion and high-frequency reciprocating motion, improving injection accuracy and service life. Wear-resistant inserts in transmission synchronizer rings and clutch pressure plates are enhanced with tungsten carbide inlays, reducing transmission losses. The high hardness and corrosion resistance of charging pile plugs and high-voltage connector contacts in new energy vehicles ensure long-term reliability during plugging and unplugging.


In addition, in processes such as precision forging of automotive parts (e.g., connecting rods and crankshaft blanks) and powder metallurgy forming (e.g., gear blanks), tungsten steel molds are resistant to high-temperature creep and wear, which can reduce machining allowances, lower production costs, and fully support the efficient mass production and performance upgrades of the automotive industry.
